The other day, I was out by the market near campus and I decided to explore. I found a nifty little road that led to the main road of the neighborhood, which I had been to before back when I had no idea where I was. Today, I decided to take my camera and revisit.
After lunch by the south gate, I headed towards the Park’n'Shop, ducking into the metro station to cover some ground away from the heat. I arrived at the corner, and that’s where this gallery begins.

- The Parknshop! But we’re not going there…
- So, look across the street to this little road.
- A bakery and a subway marker
- According to the sign, there’s an internet cafe up here.
- One of the myriad little alleys branching off the road.
- Looking down the street.
- One of Guangzhou’s many Lanzhou noodle restaurants. Shaxian Snacks’ Islamic twin.
- Barbershop down an alley!
- Here is a restaurant and two real estate offices.
- Right across the street is another restaurant with an outdoor seating area
- This is a smallish supermarket.
- It’s warm, so the main stairway is open-air.
- There are many public toilets in Guangzhou. Bring your own paper!
- Blank walls are usually covered with PSA’s. Children drew these ones.
- Entrance to a residential development.
- This is a little music store. Saxophones, indeed.
- This store sells plumbing and electrical supplies.
- Entrance to a market. Not the one I go to.
- Through the gate!
- This picture sucks. There’s clothing and veggies and fish and live poultry here.
- Out the other side of the building
- and I come to a Greenway.
- Don’t fall in the water, folks.
- Greenways are great for getting around on foot or bike.
- And the trees help make the air less nasty.
- Oh, look, there’s the street again. I know I overshot my market, hooking back…
- I think this is the “BCL International Kindergarten.”
- Loop behind that yellow and gray building and you’re almost home.
- Automotive industries. Look closely to see a man using a bucket and some bamboo as a giant bong.
- This is the other side of the yellow/gray building.
- These buildings are new. Not even finished.
- I buy my veggies under that pink building in the back.
